Janie Stidham, PhD

Dr. Janie Stidham is currently an associated faculty member in the Division of Apparel Design and Merchandising. She is an Emeritus Professor in the College of Visual Arts & Design at the University of North Texas where she taught Fashion Design for over 25 years and was the director of the program for 15 of those years. She is a Textile Artist and creates original artwork for home and business interiors which explores contemporary color, pattern, line, and shape using a variety of organic and reclaimed textile materials. Her work has been exhibited at the Wichita Center for the Arts, Louisiana State University Museum of Art, Texas Tech University Art Museum, and Keep Contemporary Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico among many other galleries in the United States. In 2021, she was commissioned to create a work of art for the Kimpton Harper Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas and in 2022 was a featured artist for the Kancan Jeans Corporation in Los Angeles, CA where she created a large piece of work utilizing reclaimed denim for their corporate headquarters.
