Sheri L. Dragoo, PhD
Professor of Apparel Design
Dr. Sheri Dragoo serves as Professor of Apparel Design in Baylor University's Department of Human Sciences and Design. Dr. Dragoo joined Baylor in August of 2019, after serving as Professor and Design Program Coordinator for Fashion Design at Texas Woman’s University for the past 21 years. Dr. Dragoo received her PhD in Fashion Design with an emphasis in Education from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. She is a member of the International Textiles and Apparel Association and the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and has served both organizations in numerous capacities, including serving as the ITAA 2019 Annual Conference Planning Co-Chair and executive Council Member. Dr. Dragoo brings extensive industry experience in the Textiles and Apparel field, having served as the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Director of Fiber Marketing for the State of Texas for five years. She continues to work with industry partners in numerous capacities through collaborations, projects, and consultancies. Dr. Dragoo has diverse and extensive scholarly works, including juried competitions, refereed publications, grant procurement, books and peer-reviewed presentations, and published abstracts. Dr. Dragoo has a strong leadership background, having served on and led University steering committees, community organizations and boards, and committee leadership within professional organizations. She has extensive student mentorship and teaching at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. Dr. Dragoo was honored with the TWU Distinguished Service Award for 2012 and with the Texas Tech University Distinguished Alumni Award for the College of Human Sciences in 2009. Dr. Dragoo received her undergraduate degree in Home Economics, Fashion Design Emphasis, at Christian Heritage College, now titled San Diego Christian college.
