Baylor MFT Program Overview

The Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program at Baylor University aims to address the growing demand for licensed therapists by providing specialized clinical training focused on family systems and relationship dynamics.

Baylor’s MFT program utilizes a hybrid curriculum that combines online synchronous courses with immersive on-campus sessions, ensuring high-quality, comprehensive preparation for students to become effective marriage and family therapy practitioners.

The MFT program requires students to complete 60 credit hours over two years, which includes online courses and on-campus immersive sessions for practical training. Students will also engage in a minimum of 300 hours of supervised clinical training through clinical placement/internship experiences. Upon graduation, students will fulfill the educational requirements needed for licensure as marriage and family therapists in many states.

Our Mission

The Marriage and Family Therapy program at Baylor University develops ethically responsible, culturally responsive, personally engaged, and clinically skilled therapists who provide research-informed, integrative-systemic therapeutic services for diverse individuals, couples, families, and presenting concerns. Consistent with Baylor’s Christian mission and commitment to human flourishing, the program emphasizes the integration of systemic thinking, compassionate service, academic excellence, and reflective professional formation. Through rigorous academic preparation, supervised clinical training, and meaningful community engagement, students are equipped to strengthen relationships, promote healing, and lead with integrity within the MFT profession and the communities they serve.
