Ann Theriot, MA, ASID, NCIDQ

Professor Theriot graduated with a degree in Interior Design from Baylor University and later completed a MA in Decorative Arts and Historic Interiors at the University of Buckingham, London, UK. A product of a transient military family, Ann Theriot’s sensitivity to the impact of the built environment on the well-being of individuals and families was shaped from an early age. During the course of a 15-year career as a practicing hospitality and residential interior designer, she led numerous successful design projects around the world, from Kensington Palace in London, England to luxury hotels in Mekkah, Saudi Arabia. Some of her research interests are the history of 18th-century British and French decorative arts and intersections of human behavior and interior environments. Her work as a senior designer leading countless interns and junior designers has made her passionate about mentoring students on their journey toward becoming professionals. During the summers, Ms. Theriot oversees the Baylor internship program and directs the biennial Interior Design European study abroad trip.

As an opportunity to amplify course objectives and preparedness for professional practice, Ms. Theriot regularly seeks out community-oriented design work in which students can participate. She also spearheads international engagement opportunities such as program mission trips and study abroad.
